Viele der beim Langstreckenklassiker erprobten Technologien und Konzepte haben das Potenzial, langfristig auf die Serienproduktion \u00fcberzugehen. In den vergangenen Jahren sind Nachhaltigkeitsaspekte in den Vordergrund ger\u00fcckt. Der veranstaltende Automobile Club de l\u2019Ouest (ACO) verfolgt dabei verschiedene Ans\u00e4tze von der F\u00f6rderung alternativer Antriebstechnologien \u00fcber effizientere Reifenkonzepte bis hin zu umfassenden Nachhaltigkeitsprogrammen. \u201eRace to 2030\u201c soll den CO2-Fu\u00dfabdruck bis 2030 drastisch reduzieren. Im Jahr 2024 wurde der ACO mit der ISO 20121-Zertifizierung und der 3-Sterne-Umweltakkreditierung der FIA ausgezeichnet.<\/p>\n\n<h6>Nachhaltigkeitspreis<\/h6>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Der ACO hat bereits 2021 einen speziellen Nachhaltigkeitspreis ins Leben gerufen. Dieser Preis w\u00fcrdigt die besten Beitr\u00e4ge der Teilnehmer zum Thema Umweltschutz und wird anhand zweier gleichgewichteter Kriterien vergeben: dem CO<sub>2<\/sub>-Fu\u00dfabdruck und innovativem Handeln, das sich auch im sozialen Umfeld widerspiegelt. Der Preis soll die Teilnehmer dazu ermutigen, durch positive Innovationen zum Schutz des Planeten beizutragen. Er belohnt innovative Wege, um einen positiven Einfluss auf die Gesellschaft oder die Umwelt zu nehmen. Die Teilnahme ist f\u00fcr alle WEC-Teams verpflichtend, da die FIA\/ACO beabsichtigt, alle in die Bew\u00e4ltigung von Klimaproblemen einzubeziehen.<\/p>\n\n<h6>MissionH24<\/h6>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eine der bedeutendsten Initiativen ist das Projekt Mission H24, ein Joint Venture zwischen dem ACO und H24Project. Seit 2018 arbeitet diese Kooperation daran, Wasserstoff als Treibstoff in der Langstrecken-Weltmeisterschaft zu etablieren. Das Projekt umfasst die Entwicklung von Wasserstoff-Prototypen, die bei den 24 Stunden von Le Mans und in der WEC eingesetzt werden sollen. Langfristig sollen diese Fahrzeuge in der Lage sein, um Gesamtsiege zu k\u00e4mpfen. In einem ersten Schritt wird ein Prototyp entwickelt, der von den Rundenzeiten her auf dem Niveau der aktuellen GT3-Fahrzeuge liegen soll. 2025 sind erste Testfahrten mit dem futuristisch anmutenden H24EVO geplant, f\u00fcr die Saison 2028 wird eine eigene Wasserstoffklasse angestrebt.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<h6>Strategische Partnerschaften<\/h6>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Der ACO sieht sich als Br\u00fcckenbauer zwischen Motorsport und Industrie. Clean Hydrogen Partnership, ein von der EU finanziertes Forschungs-Konsortium, unterst\u00fctzt die Entwicklung der Wasserstoffrennklasse durch Know-how-Transfer aus bestehenden Projekten. Laut ACO sind bei der Entwicklung gewonnene Erkenntnisse auch bereits in Serienprojekte eingeflossen, zum Beispiel in eine neue Generation von Wasserstoffstationen f\u00fcr LKWs. Die K\u00fchlsysteme des Projekts werden in Brennstoffzellen-Generatoren f\u00fcr Baustellen eingesetzt. Hochsensible Leckage-Erkennungssysteme aus dem H24EVO-Projekt finden Anwendung in industriellen Anlagen. Die Mission24H-Prototypen sind auf vielen Ausstellungen wie der Hydrogen Week zu sehen. Im Rahmen des 6-Stunden-Rennens in Spa findet 2025 bereits zum zweiten Mal ein europ\u00e4isches Wasserstoff-Forum statt. Zudem kooperiert der ACO mit mehreren Universit\u00e4ten.<\/p>\n\n<h6>Wasserstofftankstelle<\/h6>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Parallel zur Fahrzeugentwicklung entsteht an der Rennstrecke in Le Mans eine modulare Wasserstofftankstelle, die drei Kernanforderungen erf\u00fcllen soll: Skalierbarkeit (Kapazit\u00e4t f\u00fcr bis zu 20 Rennfahrzeuge), Portabilit\u00e4t (containerbasiertes Design f\u00fcr den Einsatz bei verschiedenen Rennen der WEC) und Nachhaltigkeit (Bezug von gr\u00fcnem Wasserstoff aus regionalen Power-to-Gas-Anlagen).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<h6>Reifenoptimierung<\/h6>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Michelin, ein langj\u00e4hriger Partner der WEC und der 24 Stunden von Le Mans, setzt seit mehr als zwei Jahrzehnten auf Nachhaltigkeit in seiner Unternehmensphilosophie. Dies spiegelt sich in der Entwicklung langlebigerer Reifen wider, die w\u00e4hrend des Rennens weniger oft gewechselt werden m\u00fcssen. Die Umweltvorteile dieser Entwicklung sind offensichtlich: Weniger verbrauchte Reifen bedeuten weniger Ressourcen f\u00fcr Produktion, Transport und Recycling sowie eine Einsparung von Energie und Rohstoffen. F\u00fcr den Wasserstoff-Rennprototypen hat Michelin einen Reifen entwickelt, der zu 63 Prozent aus nachhaltigen Materialien besteht. Das langfristige Ziel des ACO sind 100 Prozent nachhaltige Reifen.<\/p>\n\n<h6>Nachhaltige Kraftstoffe<\/h6>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Die WEC verwendet bereits seit der Saison 2022 nachhaltige Kraftstoffe. Die Rennfahrzeuge werden mit dem speziell entwickelten Kraftstoff \u201eExcellium Racing 100\u201c betrieben, der zu 100 Prozent aus erneuerbaren Energien besteht. Dieser innovative Kraftstoff wird auf Basis von Bioethanol hergestellt, der unter anderem aus Weinr\u00fcckst\u00e4nden der franz\u00f6sischen Landwirtschaft gewonnen wird. Die Umstellung auf den nachhaltigen Kraftstoff hat erhebliche positive Auswirkungen auf die Umweltbilanz der Rennserie. Durch diese Ma\u00dfnahme konnten die CO<sub>2<\/sub>-Emissionen der Rennwagen um rund 65 Prozent reduziert
